Disciple
SCRIPTURE · MATTHEW 4:18-22
Who am I following? What does it mean to follow Him? A disciple is a follower — a learner or pupil who accepts the teaching of Christ, not only in belief but also in lifestyle. It involves a deliberate choice, a definite denial, and a determined obedience.
- 02
Purpose
SCRIPTURE · MATTHEW 28:18-20
What are disciples called to do and why is it so important? Jesus called the disciples to follow Him and they did. But what was their new purpose? Before physically leaving earth, Jesus gave them a commission. He called them to a task.
- 03
Obedience
SCRIPTURE · JOHN 14:15-21
Being a disciple, not just in word, but in action and truth. Obedience is not optional for the disciple — it is the proof of the love we claim.
- 04
Imperfect
SCRIPTURE · ROMANS 7:15-25
Who can meet the high expectations of a disciple? None of us — and that is the gospel. Discipleship is not the perfection of the man but the perfection of grace working through him.
- 05
Love
SCRIPTURE · JOHN 13:34-35
The defining mark of a disciple is love for others. Not feelings — costly, specific, inconvenient love.
- 06
Servant
SCRIPTURE · JOHN 13:1-17
A disciple chooses to serve rather than to be served. Jesus modeled it with a towel and a basin.
